  • In early 2026, a Zhejiang-based wiring harness factory lost an order from a German new energy vehicle manufacturer due to its inability to provide carbon data that complies with the EU's PEF (Product Environmental Footprint) methodology. This is not an isolated case. With the implementation of carbon tariff mechanisms in major global markets (such as the EU's CBAM and the US Clean Competition Act), "green wiring harnesses" have changed from an added bonus to an entry threshold. Although the wiring harness is small, it runs through the entire process of vehicle manufacturing. Copper smelting accounts for more than 60% of the carbon emissions from wire harnesses. The leading automakers have set a target of reducing carbon emissions from wiring harnesses by 50% by 2030.
